3rd Taboan International Writers Festival
The Taboan International Writers Festival will be coming to Davao in February 2011. The festival will run from February 10 to February 12, 2011. It will be held at the Royal Mandaya Hotel. More than 80 delegates from all over the Philippines are expected to attend, along with five international representatives.
First organized in 2009, the Taboan International Writers Festival is an annual gathering of writers from the Philippines and other parts of the world.
Taboan is a Bisaya word which means marketplace. In keeping with its word origin, the Taboan International Writers Festival seeks to be a marketplace of ideas for the Philippine literary community.
At Taboan, writers share their experiences, projects, philosophies, and styles. From this exchange, Taboan hopes to foster new inspirations and new ventures. For veteran writers, Taboan is a reunion of friends and once-familiar faces now dispersed across the regions. For young writers, Taboan is a time to meet mentors, peers, and collaborators.
With the third Taboan, the International Writers Festival will complete its first circuit of the major island groups of the Philippines.
